Abhayanga

Abhyanga is a form of Ayurvedic medicine that involves a body massage with Dosha-specific, herb-infused oil. The oil is commonly pre-mixed with herbs for specific conditions. Abhayanga is administered by two Panchakarma technicians using a luxurious amount of warm oils customized specifically to treat your health challenges. The massage strokes relax tensions stored in the body, increase circulation to allow the skin to absorb the herb-infused oil, foster suppleness of the skin and muscles, decrease emotional and mental stress, and support a healthy immune system.

  • Soothing of nerves
  • Improved circulation of body fluids
  • Loosening of tense joints, ligaments and tendons

  • Dissolving excess fat deposits

A refreshing Sweda session is often advised after Abhayanga or IV therapy

Abhayanga & Sweda

A herbal oil body massage followed by Ayurvedic medicated steam is a perfect combination of two therapies, as the heat of the Sweda enhances the healing properties of the herbal-infused oil of the Abhyanga. The skin is the largest organ of the body with the ability to interface with the external world through absorption and excretion. Steam opens skin pores, allowing the infused oil to enter the body more efficiently. And detoxifying via sweat is a potent way to cleanse the system and support overall health.

Marma Therapy

The ancient Ayurvedic practice of Marma Therapy — commonly believed to have been the foundation for later `point’ therapies such as acupuncture and reflexology — manipulates the body’s vital energy (prana) to jumpstart the healing process. Using herb-infused oils, practitioners stimulate 108 energy points (107 in the physical body and one in the mind) during the bodywork in a deliberate and systematic manner to reopen channels for the smooth flow of prana, which may have become sluggish due to ill-health, anxiety, stress or a host of other detrimental physical/mental causes.
